Keep the maker in the process
Clay changes as it is laid down. DIRECTED explores how a ceramic maker can shape a print while it is being made, by drawing and adjusting its contours on screen.
I took the project from field research and expert interviews through development and deployment as my final project at Bezalel. The interface connects a drawing canvas, a live 3D preview, and printer control, grounded in human-centered design and embodied interaction.

A decision that changed
Replacing the “possibility field.”
The earlier purple field did not work as intended. I replaced it with a heatmap and continued refining the UI. The question behind the change was how to communicate material constraints while someone is drawing.
The current heatmap interaction is the next piece of evidence to document. It is not pictured in this version of the case study.

Beyond the screen
I presented the working system at the Bezalel degree exhibition, where practicing potters used it hands-on. The project brought together field research, interaction design, software development, and work with clay.
